Exciting New Discoveries Unearthed in Algeria this Year

The Algerian company Sonatrach recorded eight new hydrocarbon discoveries in the first five months of this year.

Algeria’s total fuel production increased from January to the end of May this year to 80 million tons of oil equivalent, compared to 79 million tons in the same period in 2022, with a growth rate of 2 percent, according to earnings released today. Algerian national oil company Sonatrach.

Algeria exported the equivalent of $21 billion during the same period this year, achieving a 2 percent increase in exports, with a record level of 170,000 tons of gasoline exported by Algeria.

At the end of 2022, 15 new hydrocarbon discoveries were recorded in Algeria, 12 of which were made by the special efforts of Sonatrach, while oil production reached 45.5 million tons of oil equivalent, of which 29.5 million tons were made by the special efforts of Sonatrach.

Algeria’s exports last year totaled 91.6 million tons of oil equivalent, up from 95 million tons in 2021, with an export turnover of $58.9 billion.
